Situated on the North Cornwall Coast with a choice of award winning sandy beaches overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Bude has it all.
The South West Coast Path is a challenge you will not want to miss. Bude has a wonderful canal which has a working lock opening onto Summerleaze Beach. Already partially restored it provides beautiful flat walking, fishing and bird watching with all year round activity which can be viewed from the Bird Hide overlooking the reeds beds and marsh area just a stone's throw from the car park.
The scenery is breathtaking, but when you want to rest the compact town which serves a wide hinterland, provides an excellent choice of restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops.
For the surfer you will find the latest gear in at least 6 up to the minute specialist shops. For the less experienced, or beginner surfer you can hire equipment and take your pick from a choice of high calibre schools which you will find are very competitively priced and provide hourly or daily surf lessons for groups or individuals. Bude is a family place with some excellent local attractions both in North Cornwall and North Devon, as Bude is right on the county border.
You can easily day trip to a wide choice of places. Travel up to Barnstaple and see the famous pannier market, inland to Dartmoor, visit the Eden Project, experience Bodmin Moor or check out the other North coast towns and villages including Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac and Padstow. Check out one of the local auctions for a great bargain to take home, visit the weekly cattle market at the market town of Holsworthy, test your fitness on the South West Coast Path or just chill out on one of the local beaches.
It's a place for all seasons, with summer fun on the lifeguard patrolled beaches or exhilarating walks on the cliff tops or a warming drink in a cosy pub around a log fire.
