Southwold
Southwold is a really pretty, small town right on the east coast of Suffolk England, possibly the furthest east you can go - the sunrises are beautiful.
The beach is sandy, clean and safe. The town has elegant shops, good hotels, coloured small cottages and large Victorian houses.
There is an interesting pier, not too long, with good shops and amusements. There is also a working harbour, selling fresh fish.
The whole town has the air of an old fashioned seaside resort but there are no 'kiss me quick' hats or cheap and nasty presents - just the opposite, refined, quiet, restful.

Aldeburgh
Aldeburgh is the perfect place to re-charge your batteries. I have never stayed in a friendlier or more relaxed place anywhere in the world. We stayed at the Mill Inn on the sea front where Sue & Dennis, mine hosts, their staff and their locals made us feel that we had been visiting there for ever.
The food at the Mill was also superb and great value for money. Try their homemade Pasties for a perfect lunchtime takeaway. They're great.
And no trip to Aldeburgh should pass without eating fish and chips straight out of the wrapping, sitting on the beach. Even the seagulls were well behaved and left us to eat in peace. The fish and chips were good too.
We can't wait to come back. If you would rather have relaxed and friendly accommodation rather than stiff and starchy, the Mill is for you, although I am sure all the other accommodation in Aldeburgh is great - we just haven't stayed in them - yet.
Why I am I telling you this - I must be mad. We can't get booked in when we want as it is. Now I am probably making it impossible!

Hollesley
Hollesley is a lovely village, which is based in a good location. It is 1 mile from the sea at Shingle Street, where there is amble opportunities to take long walks or to dobirdwatching or fishing.
The beach here has lovely view along the heritage coast towards Orford and Bawdsey Manor
There is opportunities to do hoseriding at the Poplar Par Equestrian Centre just outside the village, through the heaths and woodlands. There are also many footpaths for walkers. The heathland and woodland being a strones throw away.
For shopping and nightlife Woodbridge and Ipswich are both short drives aw
Access to Snape with its Cocert Hall at Snape Malting and Aldeburgh for its literary and Music Connections with Benjamin Britten having resided in the town for many years is accesable too from Hollesley.
Hollesley is also famous or infamous for its prison at Hollesley Bay. It is also credited for breding Suffolk Punches.
These powerful horses were used to pull ploughs in olden days and are still a feature of agricultural shows throughout Suffolk and beyond.

Ipswich
Ipswich is the County town of Suffolk with a population of about 120,000 people.
It is positioned at the head of the estuary of the river Orwell and, with Felixstowe and Harwich at the seaward end of the estuary, forms a major shipping port complex with major cargo and passenger services.
The Orwell estuary has been rated as one of the most beautiful in the country.
Ipswich was founded by the Anglo-Saxons in the 6th century and since then has seen major developments based on agriculture, industry and commerce.
Today, Ipswich offers a combination of a rich heritage and modern visitor facilities. Historic buildings include mediaeval churches and England's finest example of pargetting; the modern parts include shopping complexes and a wide range of leisure facilities including live theatre, modern cinemas, sports centres and concert venues that attract custom from a wide area of East Anglia.
Good road and rail connections with other major cities and towns including Cambridge (60 miles), Norwich (45 miles), London (80 miles) and the Midlands (150 miles) provide convenient access.
Constable Country, the Wool towns and coastal resorts such as Felixstowe, Aldeburgh and Southwold are within easy reach.
The Town and the County of Suffolk offer a wide range of attractions which makes Ipswich an interesting town and an excellent tourist centre.

Hadleigh
Hadleigh itself is a vibrant historic market town full of medieval buildings, including the Guildhall and the Deanery Tower. There are a number of wonderful walks in and around Hadleigh with many signposted circular routes, a leafy walk along an old disused railway line, a river walk along the River Brett. The un-touched and photogenic village of Kersey is a very peasant walk away.
Whilst staying in Hadleigh you will only be a 30 minute drive away from many of the various attractions that the Suffolk has to offer – the picturesque villages of Lavenham and Dedham with nearby Flatford Mill as painted by John Constable. Also there is the historic town of Bury St Edmunds and Colchester - Britain’s oldest recorded town and home of Colchester Castle.
Just 15 minutes away is the county town of Ipswich with its fine retail areas, rare book shops, cinemas and the Wolsey Theatre. The regenerated dockside area provides many bars and restaurants can be found with wonderful views across the water. You can even dine on a real barge! There's still a foot ferry across the estuary and there's Frinton with its expansive sandy beach.

Beccles
Beccles is situated on the River Waveney, around 10 miles upstream of the estuary at Lowestoft (the most easterly town the Great Britain).
On the edge of the Norfolk Broads, the town is a magnet for many holidaymakers.
Dominating the town centre, is the bell tower of St Michaels Church. The tower is unique in that it is separate from the church and further more it is situated to the east end and not the traditional west end of the church.
