I love lancaster because as well as being very historical its also a very modern cosmopolitain place with lots to do no matter what your interests and with lots of beautiful scenery and brethtaking veiws just a quick drive from the lively city centre.

Heysham
St Peters Church is positioned on cliffs overlooking Morecambe bay and is over a 1000 years old; built around 967!. The south west side of church is anglo saxon.
On hill above St Peters is the shell of St Patricks an Anglo Saxon church with stone coffins which still contain the remains of Viking buriels found around this charming village.
The oldest house was built back in 1600. It won the English Village competion a few years ago.
There is a grand Elizabethan mansion, converted into a pub. The ship hotel, is over 400 years old.
The Bay has great views of the Lake District mountains, Old Man Coniston, Hell Vellyn, Great Gable, to name a few.
There are two nice golf courses. Tennis is available at nearby Boltonly Sands, (only outdoor).
Just 5 miles from Historic Lancaster, Lancaster Castle , Home of the Pendle witch trials. Dungeons, guided tours. Charming Cathedral Church of St Marys, open to the public daily, which dates back to the 11th century.
In summer you can take guided Cross Bay walks from Hest Bank along a 7 mile treck to Grange.
Lancaster museum and Maritime museum are open. Plenty of charming walks.
Regular trains to Lakes and any where in England. Also has a regular bus service.

Morecambe
Morecambe is a small quiet seaside resort with a stone Jetty and a wonderful promenade.
There is an indoor market on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, as well having a big outdoor market every Sunday. Which is held on the carpark of the Winter Garden.

Carnforth
Carnforth has a good election of local amenities with a good choice of local shops including two major supermarkets.
There are a variety of take away food outlets covering most tastes.
The town itself has a choice of pubs, all with different atmospheres, most serve food with the Canal Turn probably being amongst the top venues for value, quality and of course it's stunning canal side situation. A short ride from the town is The Longlands Hotel, this has been constantly good and it is advisable to book if a table in the restaurant is required.
The traditional seaside resort of Morcambe is only a short journey away as is the historic town of Lancaster. A 30 minute drive North will have you in Kendal the Southern gateway to the Lake District National Park. The proximity to M6 ( Junction 35 ) gives the town excellent transport links - reflecting it's historic railway past there's still a Railway Station ( Used in the film " Brief Encounters " ) - this makes this area an ideal touring base.
