Crail Crail has one of the best small harbours in the area and is well know for the shellfish that is caught and sold here, you won't get any fresher. Dating back to 16th century, the curved breakwater was built giving it protection against the Forth and in 1826 Robert Stevenson contributed the straight west pier, which was built by rubble.
Coming up from the harbour you find the main street through Crail. Following the road towards the golf course you will bypass the Crail History museum and shortly before the Marketgate there is a road leading down to Crail Pottery.
In the Summer and other school holidays the pottery puts on classes for children, who find the whole idea great fun.
The Marketgate, now lined by trees, was once the largest medieval market places in Europe.
Continuing on, you pass the Parish Church on the left, this Romanesque sapling c1160 has been gradually added to with possibly the oldest free standing tower in Fife, before coming to the golf courses. The Balcomie and the Craighead Links. Both these courses have a large waiting list because of there popularity but visitors are welcome but it is advisable to try and book first.

Cupar Cupar is the historic market town of North East Fife. It is well served by road and rail links and is just 44 miles from the Airport at Edinburgh.
There are a huge range of child friendly visitor attractions including Scottish Deer Centre, Cairnie Fruit Farm & Megamaze, Ceramic Experience. Not to mention super beaches about 10 miles away.
There are some good food places too! Including the famous Peat Inn a few miles away.

Elie Elie is a beautiful, quiet place in the north east of Scotland. You can go pier jumping, fishing, crabbing and golfing.
You can also do loads of water sports, and play tennis. There is the lammas fair in st Andrews in the summer which has loads of rides and its realy good fun.

Newburgh A small town, Newburgh may not have a lot to offer in the way of night life i.e. nightclubs etc! But it has a friendly welcome for tourtists.
It's pubs and hotels have a welcoming friendly atmosphere. The town is in a good central location to the west St Andrews with its long beach and famous golf course to the east Perth with its to large parks known as the North Inch and the South Inch.
50 miles south will find you in Edinburgh, a short trip on the motorway taking no more than 1/2 an hour. The city of Dundee is on the other side of the River Tay and the bridges can be seen from the river bank. The views are superb!
I have lived in England for the past 30 odd years but still go home twice a year and enjoy every visit .

Pittenweem Pittenweem’s history dates back to the 7th century. Its name has Pictish origins and means ‘place by or of the cave’ This cave was said to be the ‘retreat’ St Fillan chose to live whilst he converted local Picts to Christianity. The cave is located in one of the wynds meandering upwards from the harbour. Legend has it that St Fillan had a luminous left arm which allowed him to work in the dark confines of his cave – fortunately your ‘escape’ to this part of the East Neuk will now be far more luxurious.
Pittenweem was first mentioned as a port in 1228. The outer pier is the oldest, first built in stone around the mid-16th century, the middle pier was built in 1771 by Sir John Anstruther, and the west pier was added when the fishing industry was booming in the 19th century. Nowadays, if you are lucky enough to stay overlooking the harbour, you will still be able to experience the atmosphere of the port and watch today’s catch being landed!
Pittenweem is ideally situated right for both the Fife Coastal Path (with its stunning seascapes over the Firth of Forth) and the Millenium Cycle Ways (with its network of dedicated cycle routes)
This picturesque fishing village is a real hotspot for arts, crafts, antiques and galleries. Many artists still live and work in the village. The annual Arts Festival, held in early August, enables the many visitors to see not only high quality and varied exhibitions, but also experience the special character of the quaint and colourful cottages of the locals, in which, many of these exhibitions actually take place.
We suggest you take time out to explore the many wynds which link the upper part of the village to the harbour and provide the village with much of its special ambience.
The area is family friendly with award winning sandy beaches, children's playgrounds, sailing, water sports, tennis etc nearby. Places of interest include the Scottish Fisheries Museum, the Scottish Deer Centre, the Fife Folk Museum, St Andrews Castle / Cathedral / and Golf Musuem, the Secret Bunker (where the Government would have run its affairs had a nuclear war occurred), Kellie Castle, and the Isle of May.
The whole area is a golfer's paradise with world famous golf courses nearby.
It also boasts many quaint (family) friendly pubs and a wonderful selection of high quality restaurants offering the chance to sample the excellent local produce and seafood.
