Budleigh Salterton Don't forget to see the delightful restored Salem Chapel at East Budleigh. Built in 1719 it has benefitted from an English heritage Grant and now looks wonderful.
If the weather is good then the walk via the coastal path to Otterton and back via the river path to Budleigh is a must. Around 6 miles it takes in spectacular views of Budleight and the Otter estuary, as well as views of Ladram Bay.

Exmouth Exmouth is the all year resort at the start of the Jurassic coastline it is celebrated for its long two-miles of golden sand and fascinating rock pools it’s a paradise for children and adults alike.
There are many lovely level walks around the seafront and town. The Madeira walk extends behind the seafront amongst trees and flowered areas and there are several parks to walk through which always have fabulous displays of flowers and shrubs.
When you tire of walking there are plenty of seats and cafes on the seafront to enjoy the view towards Torbay and Dawlish.
The Estuary of the River Exe is internationally known for its wildlife, many species of bird can be seen. The first section of the path is surfaced for wheel chair users.

Torre Abbey, with its ancient Abbey Ruins, is Torquay's oldest building. Situated in beautiful gardens facing out to sea, it houses a superb collection of paintings & antiques and hosts the Agatha Christie Memorial room.
The nearby Spanish Barn was used to hold 300 Spanish prisoners in 1588.
The Riviera Centre with its indoor waves leisure pool, restaurants & seasonal show overlooks the gardens which has crazy golf, putting & bowling greens and for the more energetic, tennis courts. The Princess theatre, which hosts a variety of shows, is only a short stroll along the seafront. There is also Babbacombe Theatre, The Little Theatre and Palace Avenue Theatre.
Enjoy a day exploring Torquay's shopping centre, Harbour, Marina & Pavilion. Other attractions locally include Torquay Museum, Living Coasts, Agatha Christie Mile, Bygones, Kent's Cavern and Babbacombe Model Village.

Torquay Torquay is part of the English Riviera which nestles around Torbay, which consists of three main towns, Brixham, Paignton & Torquay.
Torbay offers something for everyone, with attractions ranging from fine sands and family friendly entertainment, an excellent variety of shops, a bustling marina and great nightlife, to one of Britain's liveliest fishing ports, all offering a fine choice of accommodation to suite every need.
Torbay boasts a stunning coastline, a richness in history, many theatres, excellent bathing, plus the contrast of the sea and the beautiful Devon countryside. Regular and varied boat trips take visitors on magical tours of the coastal towns and up the River Dart to Totnes.
One of Torbay's most famous residents was Agatha Christie, many of our local spots inspired her and you will find the Agatha Christie Mile worth following with the help of a free leaflet from the Tourist Information Centre, and also Torquay Museum has a not to be missed Agatha Christie Exhibition.
Nearby, historic Dartmouth and Totness add to the picture for a memorable holiday or short break for all age groups. Out of season, Torbay flourishes with the mild climate attracting people from the colder regions of the United Kingdom who come to enjoy the theatres, walking, good food and other attractions, which continue throughout the year. Come rain or shine, there is always something to do or see in Torbay.

Dartmouth The historic town of Dartmouth, etched into the hillsides of the beautiful river Dart, is particularly attractive with its overhanging buldings, yacht harbour and wide quayside vistas. It is also renowned for its many individual shops and high quality restaurants such as the New Angel.
From the quay, it is easy to take a boat trip up the river into Totnes, catch a conecting open top bus to Paignton, and return on the steam railway. The nearest beach is the award winning Blackpool Sands which feels just like a tropical paradise on a good summer's day.
The South West Coast Path, which passes round the Dart estuary, offers many spectacular coastal walks and there is also a beautiful walk along the banks of the Dart known as the Dart Valley Trail. There are plenty of almost deserted beaches for those who are prepared to drive down the narrow lanes a little further down the coast.
There is a wealth of castles, historic houses and gardens in the area, ranging from Dartmouth Castle itself, Greenway on the banks of the river Dart where Agatha Christie used to live, to Coleton Fishacre with its art deco house and sub tropical gardens and more than a dozen others within an hour's drive.
Staying in or around Dartmouth, just one day is almost wasted, two days are not nearly enough and there's plenty to do in a whole week.

Kingsbridge Kingsbridge itself lies in the middle of Devon’s South Hams, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Spectacular coastline with a number of excellent blue flag beaches lies within a few miles of Kingsbridge. In addition, the rolling hills and dramatic scenery of Dartmoor and the local area make Kingsbridge a very attractive location for the more active visitor as well as for those who just want to enjoy a tranquil and leisurely holiday.
It is a good family-orientated area too; there are wildlife and adventure parks, steam trains, leisure centres, boat trips and water sports – plenty to satisfy everyone!
Sometimes referred to as the "capital" of the South Hams, Kingsbridge lies at the head of the Kingsbridge ‘Estuary’. Its focal point is the Quay and the Town Square and Bandstand where numerous events, including the weekly markets, and monthly farmers’ market take place.
The town has a wide range of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants as well as a cinema and a modern leisure centre with 2 indoor swimming pools.
The town’s most famous son is William Cookworthy, who discovered china clay in Cornwall, to make fine English porcelain. The Town’s Museum is named after him and tells the history of rural life in the South Hams in years gone by.
Throughout the year there are a number of local events including the music festivals, Salcombe Regatta, South Hams Vintage Machinery Show, the Agricultural Show and the Winter Extravaganza and Carnival – to name but a few!

Combe Martin Combe Martin is a lovely seaside town, with the longest high street in England.
It nestles in a valley, with the beach at the lower end. There are loads of pubs and restaurants to choose from and plenty of accommodation, either hotel or self-catering.
Be sure to visit the chocolate box village of Berrynarbour, a very pretty place! A short distance away is Ilfracombe and Woolacombe, both worth a visit. Also the Dinosaur Wildlife Park, just on the edge of Combe Martin..dont miss!
I can highly recommend Combe Martin for a holiday!

There are loads of inns and pubs, restaurants and 'chippys'. There is a charming beach and spectacular scenery from the surrounding cliffs. It is within easy reach of Exmoor and is only 3 or 4 miles from Ilfracombe and 5 miles from Woolacombe. It has a regular local bus service. Within 2 miles is the chocolate box village of Berrynarbour, with winding lanes and pretty cottages.
Plenty of inn and hotel accomodation and B&B Guest houses.
We've stayed there several times and always enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

Lynton and Lynmouth Lynton and Lynmouth are two beautiful villages on the rugged coastline of North Devon. Some of the most fantastic coastal views include the Valley of the Rocks which is breathtaking.
One of my most favourite views is when I return home along the A39 from Porlock and as I descend Countisbury Hill, the view from there always knocks me out and I have to pull in to the layby and just sit and stae and think how lucky I am to see Lynmouth Bay and the rocky cliffs laid out before me.
Some experienced surfers say that some of the best waves are just off the Lynmouth coast.
I am lucky because I retired from teaching to come and live here in a lovely little pub just 1 km away at Lynbridge. We have a bar, a riverside restaurant and 8 en suite bedrooms and we welcome guests from all over the world.
The pub is called The Bridge Inn. So, come and join us if you are in the area.

Westward Ho Westward Ho is the best place been to in my life.
The beach is fantastic that is about 2 miles long with golden sand and the water is so warm in the summer.
During the summer there is many lifeguards on the beach.
Thats enough about the beach; there is a fantastic fish and chip shop called the Sunshine Cafe.
Places to stay; well which one would you pick? There are chalets over looking the fluffy blue sea. Or maybe you want to stay in a caravan for a week or two, or camping on 'Braddicks' land which is fantastic! You are so close to the sea, if you get any closer you will be in it! When you go to bed you can hear the sea.
The last time we went was in the summer and go every summer, and during the winter we go to a place called Ilfracombe which is about 40 mins away.
Who ever you are devon is a great place to go.

Honiton Honiton is a busy West Country market town with many antique shops and places to eat.
Every Tuesday and Saturday you can browse among the stalls at the street market or visit the livestock market in Silver Street.
The town is famous for its Honiton Lace (which was used to make Queen Victoria's wedding dress). Unfortunately, the lace shop is no longer trading but the Allhallows Museum has a fine display of Honiton Lace.
Honiton also has a pottery where you can make a memento of your visit to take home with you.
There are many delightful guest houses in and around Honiton waiting to welcome you.
The coast is just a few miles away and there are plenty of National Trust houses and gardens within striking distance, so there is plenty to do during your stay.

Bigbury-On-Sea Bigbury-On-Sea is a fantastic place full of charm and boasts one of the best beaches I have come across.
It also boasts Burgh Island which has a fabulous hotel and also The Pilchard Inn, an old smugglers retreat built a few centuries ago.
Definately worth a visit. Not commercialised unlike some places. Does have cafe, toilets and lifeguard station.

Axminster Axminter derives it's name from the river Axe on which it stands.
Tucked away in the south eastern corner of Devon, Axminter lies in the beautiful countryside of the Axe Valley. A designated area of outstanding natural beauty.
Conveniently situated five miles inland from the attractive seaside towns of Seaton and Lyme Regis, Axminster makes a perfect touring centre from which to explore the unspoilt coast and countryside, with it's many quaint old villages, and the keen walker will be tempted to many a beckoning sign.
